The problem is not to be more expensive than the competition but the client does not understand why. Not all customers can afford to buy cheap. The lack of differentiation leads companies to compete on price. When the client does not identify a reason that would justify why he should buy one specific brand and not another, he will make the decision by the only criteria that can compare: the price. And compete on price is a very dangerous ground, as there is always someone that will be willing to lower the price a little more than you. Therefore, differentiation is not only a matter of survival, but an alternative to build a unique business and that is really relevant to your customers.


El problema no es ser más costoso que la competencia sino que el cliente no entienda por qué. No todos los clientes se pueden dar el lujo de comprar barato. La falta de diferenciación lleva a las compañias a competir por precio. Cuando el cliente no identifica una razón que le justifique por qué debería comprar una marca y no otra, tomará la decisión por el único criterio que puede comparar: el precio. Y competir por precio es un terreno muy peligroso, pues siempre alguien estará dispuesto a bajarlo un poco más que usted. Por eso diferenciarse no es sólo cuestión de supervivencia, sino una alternativa para construir un negocio único y que sea realmente relevante para sus clientes.
