There are 3 channels used by modern marketers, and the sectors they operate in. You may enter as many categories as you wish. To increase your chances of winning, consider entering your work in multiple categories and across regions.
New in 2021
SMARTIES has evolved. The COVID-19 Pandemic brought more trends to the forefront amid changing consumer behavior—brand activism has become more important than ever; and the media mix and overall marketing strategy has changed. In keeping pace with these and other changes, we have created 6 new categories and revamped the titles and descriptions for others.

There are 9 categories to choose from: Brand Experience, Brand Activism (New), Consumer Promotions, Data/Insights, Lead Generation, Multicultural (New), Product/Service Launch, Small Budget-Big Impact Campaign (New), Social Impact/Not-for-Profit
There are 7 categories to choose from: Contextual/Native Advertising (New), Cross Channel Integration. Cross Mobile Integration, Gaming/Gamification & E-Sports, Mobile App (Includes mCommerce Solutions), Social Media Marketing, Social Messaging/Chat Apps/Text Messaging (New)
There are 9 categories to choose from: Audio/Sonic Branding (New), Connected Devices/IOT, Digital Out-of-Home, Innovation, Location Targeting, Machine Learning and AI, User Generated/Influencer Marketing, Video Advertising, XR Technology (AR/VR/MR)
When entering into these categories, you should present your entry in a way that addresses the challenge as outlined in the category definition. Be sure to review the category definitions to ensure your effort meets the criteria of the specific category definition. Many category titles have been changed and descriptions have been updated.
