

Rick Boeker is the Lead Community & Social Media Specialist for KTMD-TV / Telemundo Houston, the NBCUniversal-owned television station serving the Hispanic community in the Houston market. Since joining the company in January 2014, Rick has been responsible for managing the station’s community-facing initiatives, social media presence and overall marketing strategy. For the last 4 year, he has been a team leader for Meet the Moment, the company-wide DE&I efforts at Comcast and NBCUniversal. He is a member of Out@NBCU and Comcast/NBCUnidos ERGs.
Under Rick’s leadership, Telemundo Houston has become a dominant presence by focusing on key areas of importance to the communities it serves: education, health & wellness and civic engagement. Rick has been instrumental in developing strategic partnerships with area school districts, non-profits, civic organizations, professional sports teams, major local events and various media companies within the Houston area. As a result of these efforts, ratings and revenue have increased.
Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Rick served as Community Development Coordinator for the Prepared 4 Life Foundation from 2011 to 2013. Before that, he spent 4 years with the City of Baytown as Grade Chief and then Interim Foreman of Streets Division of Public Works. Before gaining experience in the non-profit sector and municipal government, Rick honed his marketing and broadcasting skills spending a decade as Promotions Director for a group of radio stations in Portland, Oregon. His broadcasting career started in Houston while he was in college with various radio station roles: Promotions Director KHMX, Promotions Coordinator KTRH, on-air talent / board operator KIKK, producer / board-op KKBQ.
Rick is actively involved in community efforts, is a Life Member of the University of Houston Alumni Association and serves as president of the Alumni Volunteer Corporation of the Texas Delta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. In 1996, he earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Houston School of Communications. He is a three-time Lone Star Emmy® Award recipient, Media Alliance Houston Community Affairs Director of the Year and his work has been recognized with an NAB Crystal Radio Award for Excellence in Community Service.
