Oliver van Bilsen is the Global Head of Digital for Shell’s Retail, Fuels and Lubricants businesses. Shell operates the world’s largest branded retail fuels business with over 43,000 retail outlets and 25 million customers served every day, and is the world’s #1 global lubricants supplier with operations in over 70 countries. He is responsible for ensuring Shell delivers a world-class digital customer experience for drivers, B2B customers and employees and oversees all aspects of digital including digital communications, websites, mobile including mobile payments and loyalty, social, eCommerce, connected car and connected store. Oliver joined Shell in 2010 to establish its global digital marketing function for Lubricants and to lead the digital transformation for this business. In his role, he focused on building digital capability in key areas such as digital campaign development, digital media, redesigning the websites across 50+ countries, CRM, mobile, tracking and analytics, and growing local market skills & competencies. During his tenure, Shell was recognized with 6 global creative and media awards, was the first to launch a global oil selector tool for 126 markets on both web and mobile, and led the Shell Digital Council bringing together Shell’s retail, lubricants, corporate and recruitment businesses under a single digital program. In 2015, he became the Global Head of Digital for Shell Retail as well as Lubricants. Prior to Shell, Oliver worked for Yahoo!, Castrol, Coca-Cola, Avis and Motorola and has lived and worked in the Netherlands, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, China and the UK. At Yahoo!, Oliver was the Marketing Manager for the UK & Ireland where he was responsibility for marketing and communications for the Yahoo! brand as well as its key properties including Yahoo! Mail, Yahoo! Eurosport, Yahoo! Answers, Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Search and Yahoo! Homepage. Oliver is an experienced digital technologist with firm marketing roots who is happiest with one foot in marketing communications and the other developing the future customer experience. He earned a BA in International Business from Bristol Business School, UWE and has a post-graduate degree in Digital Marketing from the Institute of Direct Marketing.
