Alka Sharma is heading marketing and communications at JioAds. With more than 23 years of experience in setting up, spearheading and executing world class brand and reputation programs for Fortune 100 Companies including Yahoo!, GE, WhatsApp and HP.
In her role at WhatsApp, Alka led integrated marketing and communications programmes in India. The role involved strategic planning and effective implementation of the communications campaign during the Supreme Court Privacy case. It included building the reputation of the brand on social impact and product value. The role focused on building and delivering a strong narrative for WhatsApp in India through third party outreach, strategic media relations, policy communications and education campaigns.
As a member of South Asia’s senior leadership team at GE, Alka led a world-class employee engagement program, CSR framework and strategy and Alstom integration in support of the company’s growth vision. She was awarded the Chairman’s Award for her expertise on crisis navigation and leading successful company-wide transformation. Alka has also worked with consumer technology brands like Yahoo! and Hewlett Packard to define their story in Asia Pacific. A curious learner, Alka is a post graduate from IIM Bangalore.
