May 25, 2011 (Orange, CA) – Street Savings announced today two mobile marketing products – Street Savings Mobile Coupons and Mobile Rewards - that move value using text messaging and popular gift and loyalty programs, and can be redeemed using widely available point of sale (POS)and credit card terminals.
Together with leading hardware manufacturers and gift and loyalty processors (http://www.streetsavings.com/technology-partners.asp), Street Savings has developed a closed-loop environment that connects the mobile marketing coupon or reward transaction to the ubiquitous credit card terminal. Street Savings uses the same terminals merchants rely on and consumers use millions of times per day. Street Savings is already working with agents in 23 states to move merchants to its mobile marketing and redemption system.
“By tying the mobile transaction to the existing payments terminals, we have solved the problem of mobile coupon and rewards redemption, enabling merchants to track campaign success and move closer to a mobile payments environment,” said Pal Flagg, COO of Street Savings.
Street Savings integration with existing payment industry equipment and closed loop networks gives merchants a mobile coupon and rewards redemption system now that can transition seamlessly to the coming NFC-enabled payments system.
“Merchants understand the growing importance of mobile technology to their business,” said Flagg. “Street Savings is one of the only companies offering them a complete, closed-loop mobile marketing solution, using widely available equipment that they already have on their counter.”
Street Savings Mobile Coupons and Mobile Rewards products are easy and affordable for merchants,quick-to-provision, and work with the credit card terminals and point-of-sale (POS) systems already in use by most small businesses. The company offers mobile coupon and reward redemption through the largest number of credit card terminals and POS systems in the industry (http://www.streetsavings.com/terminals.asp).
Street Savings unveiled its new products at the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) Annual Meeting & Expo (http://www.electran.org/), May 10-12 in San Diego where they were tested in a real-time demonstration by more than 100 attendees who received mobile text-message offers from restaurants and retail merchants in San Diego’s famous Gaslamp Quarter.
In the Street Savings booth at the ETA Expo, conference attendees were able to opt-in to receive text message offers from Gaslamp Quarter merchants using a variety of methods: ATM kiosk, ‘text-to join,' credit card terminal, POS, web sign-up, social media, QR codes, and ‘tap-to-join’ via near-field communication (NFC) technology. Merchants were able to use their credit card terminal or POS to track redemption.
Anthony Pugliano of AKP Enterprises, a Street Savings merchant, said "I recently began using Street Savings for my two businesses in Sedona AZ. I liked the fact that I could track the results of the program using a regular credit card machine. By the way, earlier this week I sent an offer to 187 people and 25 showed up. Not bad!" AKP Enterprises operates both a Chevron and a Shell gas station/convenience store.
