Oklahoma Entrepreneurs Introduce the WOrld's First Text Message Job Board, Texting4Jobs

OKLAHOMA CITY (April 12, 2010) – With an estimated 5 billion text messages to be sent in 2010, the world of mobile and SMS is big business. Texting4Jobs is a new job notification service aimed at providing companies a new twist on reaching active job seekers in Oklahoma.

According to Jessica Miller-Merrell, co-founder of Texting4jobs and a nationally recognized recruitment expert, recommends companies consider adapting their recruitment strategies to fit the changing mass communication landscape in order to appeal to a more targeted and technology savvy audience.

“Traditional methods like newspapers, radio, and job boards use a spray and pray method reaching millions of job seekers often with expensive or less than effective results, says Miller-Merrell. “Texting4Jobs aims to change that.”

Texting4Jobs is text message based job notification platform. Job seekers text, “T4J” to 67664 to receive job listings via text. Once registered they choose the city and industry in which they want to receive job alerts. Texting4Jobs offers companies a targeted way to reach active job seekers. The service was launched last week and is offering its services to interested businesses at no charge for 60 days while in beta.

“Ninety-four percent of text messages are read compared to email and direct mail campaigns which average 3%. By targeting their audience businesses make the job hunt easier and convenient for job seekers,” says Miller-Merrell.
