Members Respond to Crisis; Mobile Enables Quickest Way to Send Monetary Donations

What: According to the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) (www.mmaglobal.com), the quickest way to provide monetary relief to those affected by the recent earthquake in Haiti is mobile giving, and the organization’s member companies have responded.

Spearheaded by the Mobile Giving Foundation (MGF), a non-profit organization dedicated to helping other non-profits raise funds through mobile, MMA member companies are working with cause-related organizations such as the Yéle Foundation, the leading contributor to rebuilding Haiti founded by Wyclef Jean; Clinton Foundation; Red Cross; and others to speed relief to those affected by the recent earthquake.

“Response from the public for mobile-giving campaigns related to Haiti Earthquake Relief has been tremendous, and awareness of the various campaigns continues to grow via social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter,” said Federico Pisani Massamormile, MMA interim CEO.  “Our members are to be commended for their rapid response; however, there is still much work to be done, and MMA leadership encourages both our members and the public to continue their support.”

How: By texting a keyword to a designated short code via a mobile phone, a micro-donation of $5 or $10 can be made to aid the millions of people affected by this tragedy.  100% of your donation goes to the recipient charity, and the donation appears as a charge on your carrier bill, standard rates may apply.
