Sept. 12, 2011—Priming movie fans for Alcon Entertainment’s Sept. 23rd release of the Charles Martin Smith-directed Dolphin Tale, Trailer Park Mobile developed the mobile game Fling-A-Fish. The game is currently available for download in the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPads, and the Android market for phones and tablets. Dolphin Tale: Fling-A-Fish features Winter, whose amazing true story the film is based on.
Trailer Park was initially approached to develop the game by Alcon Entertainment’s President of Marketing Richard Ingber, who is also one of the film’s producers, and Noam Dromi, who oversees interactive marketing for Alcon and co-wrote Dolphin Tale with Karen Janszen. “Richard and I knew we wanted to develop a fun game that lived up to the real Winter’s playful spirit and could be enjoyed by kids and adults alike,” Dromi comments. “We’ve had a longstanding relationship with the team at Trailer Park and knew they would be the ideal creative partners for us to deliver a superior user experience on time and on budget.”
Evan Geerlings, Trailer Park’s VP of Mobile, immediately embraced the challenge. “For starters, it’s always fantastic to take on a project that extends a great theatrical property into the gaming space,” he says. “Noam, Richard and the Alcon Entertainment team knew Dolphin Tale’s fans would enjoy the Dolphin Tale: Fling-A-Fish game. Since there was a tight production schedule, we enlisted Ansca Mobile for their Corona SDK tool that enabled us to deliver the game cross platform in a short window of time; all without compromise of our high creative standards. It is a service Trailer Park will continue to offer in the gaming space.”
Dolphin Tale: Fling-A-Fish includes multiple levels of game play, all incorporating fun challenges that stand between the dolphin and her food. The film is based on the story of Winter, the Atlantic bottlenose dolphin who lost her tail after being caught in a crab trap and was given a prosthetic tail that saved her life. The star-studded cast includes Morgan Freeman, Ashley Judd and Harry Connick Jr.
