Mobile Marketing Association Announces 2009 Asia Pacific Board of Directors

Industry leaders appointed to help drive MMA charter in the region

Singapore – May 14, 2009 – The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) today named its elected Board of Directors for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.  The MMA 2009 APAC Board of Directors is comprised of individuals representing some of the world’s most prominent organizations in the mobile marketing ecosystem. MMA members include representatives from agencies, advertisers, brands, handheld device manufacturers, wireless operators, retailers, software and service providers, as well as any company focused on the potential of marketing via the mobile channel. 

“As an action-oriented, member-driven trade association, we incorporate the entire mobile marketing ecosystem in the work that we do. The input and the leadership that we receive from our board members around the world is absolutely vital in that process,” commented MMA President and CEO Mike Wehrs.  “We look forward to working with the new APAC board to make 2009 and beyond exceptionally productive for our members and the mobile marketing industry as a whole.”

The MMA 2009 elected Board of Directors for Asia Pacific includes:

  • Sean Rach, Managing Director, OgilvyOne Worldwide

The elected directors join emeritus and sustaining directors in APAC:

  • Danilo Mojica, Head, Sales and Marketing, SMART Communications, Inc.
  • Jimmy Poon, Managing Director, Púca China

The election of the new board members comes after over a month of nominations and voting by MMA members and precedes the election of regional Executive Committee members, who also make up the Global Board. The MMA global and regional board members work together with MMA staff to oversee and guide the Mobile Marketing Association and its industry initiatives. 

“We believe mobile marketing is poised for exceptional growth in the Asia Pacific, with mobile penetration rates higher than in any other region globally. The MMA, with the support of the new APAC board, will work to build a sustainable ecosystem for the mobile marketing industry in this region and be the leading association for consultation on key industry issues such as measurement and metrics, mobile advertising guidelines, Codes of Conduct and Consumer Best Practices,” said Rohit Dadwal, Managing Director, MMA, Asia Pacific.

The APAC board will hold its first meeting within 30 days of election. Regional and Global Executive Committee elections and the appointment of the new Global Chairperson will be announced in June.
