Daniel Lee
Director of Digital Projects APMEA

Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, and raised in the family fish and chip shop, Daniel has come full circle to arriving at McDonald’s, responsible for leading key digital projects for the region to drive future business growth.

He is a 15 year digital veteran with digital leadership roles at traditional ad agencies like HAVAS Worldwide, Ogilvy and JWT, in addition to digital agencies and start ups.

One of the best things about being from the agency side is the breadth of clients (including American Express, Nestlé, Ford, Unilever, Reckitt Benckiser, Ford, IBM, Danone) with the expanse of projects you get to work on (if it’s digital he’s probably done it, ranging from CRM, e-commerce, mobile apps, AR, gaming, analytics, social, search). One of the worst things about the agency side is that every digital project demands personal attention to devilish details, which fortunately he is very attuned to.

The Tech guys like him because he translates why something can – or cannot – work to the Marketing people.   Similarly, Marketing people like him because he can architect the big picture strategy, maintain peaceful relations with IT and still lead projects that keep the brand intact.

In his spare time, he is an avid martial artist, passionate board gamer and predictor of stock market direction.

Rob Marston
Zeus Unwired

Rob Marston is one of Australia’s most eminent thought leaders in the mobile advertising space. A true digital native, Marston taught MBA students about the ‘Information Superhighway’ back in 1996 at Durham University Business School. From theory to practice, Marston seized the opportunity (before the dotcom bubble burst) to help launch global leading recruitment website Monster.com in the UK, where he web-enabled businesses recruitment processes as well as created Monsters first career portal exclusively for public sector.

In early 2005, after relocating to Australia, Marston combined his passions for marketing and digital to work in the bourgeoning search engine marketing world for 24/7 Real Media (a WPP company). He then created a new nationwide search division at leading media agency Starcom MediaVest, working with large global brands such as General Motors, BankWest, Sportsbet, Samsung and Sony to bring Search into their marketing communications strategy.

The next logical stop for someone who loves being at the font of nascent advertising technology was mobile and Marston single handedly launched InMobi into the Australian and New Zealand market in 2010. Having uncovered his true passion for mobile and wanting to expand beyond an ad network, he launched Zeus Unwired (www.zeusunwired.com) a specialist boutique mobile agency working with large brands such as Yahoo, Domain, Subaru, Samsung and Westfield on mobilizing their advertising.

Marstons’ infatuation with mobile lead him to speak at a number of conferences including Ad Tech (where he is a founding member of the Unwired Advisory Council and created the inaugural ‘mobile only’ ad:tech Unwired event), several AIMIA conferences as well as lecturing in mobile at The University of Sydney and RMIT (Vietnam). Marston also enjoys working as a voluntary mentor on schemes aimed to help support and foster innovation within the start up community (MEGA and Push Start).

In the ‘analogue world’ he loves racing mountain bikes, cooking and photography.

Jeffrey Seah
Country Chair, VivaKi, South East Asia
Chairperson, Starcom Mediavest Group, Asia Digital Leadership Team

Jeffrey Seah rejoined Starcom Mediavest Group (SMG) in 2009 in a leadership role to helm its SEA operations, with key responsibilities to focus on growth, as well as to strengthen the network’s product and offering.

As our industry operates in a world where vast amounts of valuable data comes from the digitisation of the media and technological landscape, one of the first things Jeffrey embarked in SMG was to foster a digital culture within the network, leading the charge to scale the agency’s interactive capabilities through the decentralisation of digital knowledge and skills across the organisation. Currently, 90% of SMG staff in SEA are GAP (Google Advertising Professional) certified, a shining example of Jeff’s success, and commitment, in pushing through digital percolation at SMG.

Jeffrey is also a strong advocate of future-proofing businesses. Under his management, he has fortified SMG’s core capabilities by delivering talent, expanding assignments among existing MNC clients, as well as driving diversified services to ensure the longevity of the media business that is fast becoming commoditised. In an industry where understanding consumers forms the crux of the business, Jeffrey’s work philosophy and ethics encourages a work environment that champions out-of-the-box thinking,  resulting in an agency that delivers meaningful brand experiences to its clients, and further accelerating SMG’s transformation into a Human Experience Company.

Prior to his return to SMG, Jeffrey was with GroupM, first as CEO for Mindshare & MAXUS Singapore, and subsequently helmed Mindshare’s offices in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia as their sub-regional CEO. Before his stint with GroupM, Jeffrey was a 10-year SMG veteran, responsible for launching Starcom Singapore in 1999, and establishing the Starcom IP Digital Marketing unit across Asia for SMG in 2002.

An advertising business innovator, Jeffrey identifies and admires Charles Darwin, and naturally believes the multi-skilled will be selected by the nature of business. His greatest fear is to vacillate before a decision and his greatest regret is not being a doctor. A fan of the Pet Shop Boys and Stephanie Sun, Jeffrey considers his greatest achievement to being a doting father to his 3 children.
