India Connected Consumer 2022 Report Insights

Connected Consumer Insights

  • A connected consumer is majorly invested in smart personal devices such as smartwatches, TWS, tablets and chromebooks. These devices hold 23% usage segment.

  • Connected consumers (58%) are well-aware about chipsets powering smart devices. For instance, MediaTek enjoys a good recall among consumers when it comes to smart devices.

Smart Home Insights

  • Smart lights, smart ACs, smart heater, air-purifier, and some other comfort & convenience devices contribute to 21% smart device usage category.
  • Safety and security is gaining interest among consumers, especially with nuclear families and families with elder members. At present, the data shows that the combined usage is 17% (smart camera, video-enabled door bells and smart door lock) but should increase in the coming year. Smart cameras drive most usage in the category due to their affordable price. New forms of smart locking such as smart door locks also gaining interest among users.
  • Smart lights contribute to 82% smart home usage due to their convenience and affordability factor.
  • In smart gadgets category for household chores, smart vacuum cleaners lead with 41% share.
  • Existing smartphone users driving high recommendation for smart device usage.

Tablets & Chromebook Insights

  • Emergence of feature-rich sub-25K tablets contributes to the growth of tablet usage. After chromebooks and TWS, tablets (24%) are the most purchased smart personal products.
  • Chromebooks are taking off as an affordable alternative compute device especially for educational purposes. Their affordability is the driving factor among college goers and young professionals.
  • Lenovo leads the category with 33% share.
  • Major chunk of chromebook buyers spend in the 25k to 35K price bracket.

Smart TVs Insights

  • Most Smart TV sales (47%) are happening in 15K-30K price bracket.
  • Only 3% buyers are investing in premium category (Above 1 Lacs).
  • 59% Smart TV sales are online.
