Thabang Ramogase has over 25 years of strategic marketing and general management experience across various sectors, including FMCG, telecoms, agro processing and media. He is a Chartered Marketer CM (SA) and holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).

Previous employers include the Coca-Cola Company, Nando’s, MTN, National Brands (now AVI) and the SABC, and he is skilled in developing and implementing initiatives built on systems thinking.

Thabang strives to build resilient P&Ls and strong long-term brand equity. His keen understanding of consumer behaviour, with a particular expertise in black consumer insights and trends, as well as capable leadership and creativity in conceptualising and implementing successful strategies, has added value to the various roles and businesses he has contributed towards.

Some of Thabang’s career highlights include transforming Mindshare South Africa’s Exco from 20% PDI composition to 66.7% during his tenure as CEO, while delivering better outcomes for clients and higher margins for the business.

At Nando’s SA, Thabang lead the team that won the brand its first international advertising award throughout its 25-year history, a Bronze Cannes Award for Best Campaign in lieu of ‘Last Dictator Standing’.

Early in his career as a marketing manager at Coca-Cola, Thabang successfully launched Sprite Zero, trebling the expected launch volumes and taking the business from 1 million unit cases to 7 million in just two years. This brand launch and the resultant naming convention has become a global template for Coca-Cola.

Thabang is currently the head of marketing and Exco member, in the Insurance and Asset Management division of the Standard Bank group, wherein his responsibilities include, brand, research and insights, customer experience and journey management, as well as corporate citizenry.
