Since arriving at Clear Channel Outdoor (CCO) in 2015, CEO Scott Wells has been leading the company’s transformation in the out of home (OOH) advertising industry into a powerful, 21st century media company that offers marketing partners innovative digital, mobile and measurement capabilities to build brands in exciting and impactful ways. During his tenure, Scott has executed against his vision of re-imaging the legacy business as a contemporary and highly relevant media innovator that helps brands captivate audiences wherever they are by leveraging the organization’s mass scale and reach. He’s enhanced the executive team with top talent from across the media spectrum, including an award-winning CMO, a new president of sales, an SVP of research and an SVP of Programmatic who are all working together to lead the industry in modernizing how OOH is transacted. 

Scott brings decades of experience transforming and revitalizing companies. He joined Clear Channel Outdoor Americas in March 2015 from Bain Capital, the private equity firm and part owner of iHeartMedia, Inc. He began innovating early in his career at AT&T and Bain & Company, where he applied bleeding edge technology solutions for ADP, Emerson Electric and Johnson & Johnson, among others. His work there led him to Dell where he helped drive growth in the US Commercial division.  From there Scott joined Bain Capital, where he steered investments in Apple Leisure Group,   CRC Health Group, and Clear Channel Outdoor through strategic transformations.

As CEO, Scott is incorporating sophisticated new tools and technologies that leverage smart data to better target audiences and ultimately make OOH an integral part of today’s media conversation. This includes Clear Channel Outdoor RADAR, the OOH industry’s first-to-market suite of data / analytics tools that leverage mobile location data to enhance OOH for its valued advertisers. He manages every facet of CCO’s operation in the US. Scott holds an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.  He is a board member of the OAAA and Ad Council, along with the education-related non-profit Achievement Network.
