Ruling protects original technology at heart of mobile firm’s core software platform SEATTLE, WA., 2 AUGUST 2010 Volantis, the mobile internet specialist, has been awarded a United States patent for the intelligent mobile web server technology which is at the heart of its core Framework and Storefront platforms. The technology is designed to deliver the best possible mobile internet experience across the 7,000+ devices in Volantis’ database, from the most advanced smart phones through to low end feature phones. The newly patented technology is capable of identifying requests from different browsers and devices and customizing mobile web content accordingly. Servers equipped with the technology respond to a request message from a mobile device by dynamically generating web page code capable of being interpreted by both the browser and the device. The technology allows web pages to be generated and optimised in an appropriate form for each device without the need for time-consuming and complicated page conversion. Mark Watson, CEO of Volantis, commented: “Volantis is committed to developing technology that brings the mobile internet world together. As things stand, the market is fragmented technically and commercially, with thousands of handsets, app stores and browsers. Our patented technology tackles the core issues facing the market, helping to create a better mobile internet experience for the end-user while allowing developers to create applications once and distribute everywhere – in one go.” Volantis has been granted United States patent no. 7739658 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for ‘web server for remote user devices service and web page generation’.
