Ronald McDonald House Uses Mobile Campaign Powered by Telescope To Drive Charity Donation

Los Angeles, Calif. (August 20th, 2009) – The annual fundraiser Macy’s Glamorama kicks off the beginning of fall fashion season tomorrow in Chicago with musical performances, fashion designer attendees and celebrity appearances all focusing on the main goal of the event – raising money for charity.
The Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana is raising money to build the largest Ronald McDonald House® in the world. To help achieve this goal, RMHC®-CNI has enlisted the help of mobile pioneer Telescope Inc., to integrate an SMS campaign at Glamorama to allow event guests to donate to the charitable cause via text messaging. RMHC is hoping that the mobile campaign will increase interactivity with its audience and provide an additional method of raising funds.

During the event, guests will be shown a video presentation highlighting the role of Ronald McDonald House in keeping the families of hospitalized children together and the need for the new House. The video concludes with a call to action that asks the audience to text their donation amount to the short code 21523. After the audience texts in their pledge amount for the RMHC, they will receive a reply message confirming the amount and the Ronald McDonald House Charity web link with instructions on how to complete their donation online. They will also have the opportunity to opt-in to receive a reminder message from Ronald McDonald House Charities as well as further information via text about upcoming RMHC events.
