partner organizations including the IAB-US and the MRC in the creation
of Global Measurement guidelines. The MMA Measurement committee is
calling for additional members to contribute.
Affiliate Marketing Committee
The Affiliate Marketing committee held its initial call on February

practices on jump and landing pages, as well as reducing friction and
eliminating pain points for the affiliate marketing ecosystem. If you

to join. Send an email to committees@mmaglobal.com for more information.
Consumer Best Practices
This month the Consumer Best Practices committee is setting priorities
for 2009 from the feedback received at the CBP Industry Forum in January. A formal list of priorities will be published for public review in the coming weeks.

marketing guidelines for circulation with all committee members. New

MMA Creates new Market Intelligence and Strategy Department to
better serve its members’ business-decision needs. With a fast-growing
and ever-changing Mobile Marketing ecosystem, there are hugely
important business decisions to be made every day about mobile
marketing, whether by individual member organizations, by the
Association collectively, or by external audiences, such as clients,
investors, consumers, the media, or regulators. For the most critical
decisions about mobile marketing, the MMA will seek to ensure that
timely, accurate, useful and cost-effective market intelligence is
available in the best possible format and venue. As new market
intelligence benefits are rolled out in the weeks and months ahead,
continue to check this newsletter for news of the latest ways in which
market intelligence is benefiting members.
Metrics Committee – Call For Participation.
The central forum in which members can identify and prioritize the key
business decisions for which they see market intelligence is the MMA
metrics committee. The first meeting for 2009 is tentatively planned
for late March, and representation from across the ecosystem is vital.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Peter Johnson,
MMA’s new VP Market Intelligence and Strategy. Email him at Peter.johnson@mmaglobal.com, and put “Metrics Committee” in the subject line.
MMA Announces Research Partner Program.
To expand the range of market data available to you, MMA Market
Intelligence has launched a program to identify and recruit market
research companies offering products, services, or reports of special
interest to members of MMA. If you work for such a firm, or know of a
research firm that you would like to see become part of this program,
and would like to learn more, please email Peter.johnson@mmaglobal.com, with “Research Partner” as the subject. |

From Nice-to-Have WAP Sites to Must-Have Mobisites
by Eddie Groenewald, CEO, Multimedia Solutions
A few years ago, mobile strategy was focused on SMS and the only
mobisites around were WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) sites. WAP
was designed to create websites for viewing on the mobile phone. The
problem was the technology was very limiting and there were very few
WAP sites, which meant there was nothing to draw users onto the mobile
Internet.
7 Deadliest Sins of Mobile Marketing
By Eric Holmen, President, SmartReply
After the changes and mammoth upheavals in 2008 – everything from job
security, to consumer spending, to the reorganization of K Street and
beyond – we’d be forgiven for thinking that 2009 will be the end of the
world as we know it – and it just might be.
A New Mobile Adnetwork Business Model
By Cesar S. Cesar, Hands Mobile Advertising Network
In
some markets, competition is the keyword. Brands compete for consumer’s
preference offering advantages, services, prices… Although in other
markets competitors are put together in a network, mobile marketing is
a good sample of this scenario. Investing in a mobile adnetwork is a
bet in goals all companies in the world have in common: profit and
growth.
