Dear Readers,
Welcome to the September 2007 edition of the MMA’s Mobile Marketing Messenger.
September has been an exciting month
for the MMA! On September 25, we announced our first deliverable
from our Europe, Middle East & Africa chapter (EMEA), our EMEA
Mobile Advertising Guidelines. The guidelines cover mobile
web banners and are the result of the output of 40 plus companies from
MMA membership. Congratulations!
The MMA is ramping up for a very busy
fall event season. On October 9 & 10 we will host our Mobile
Marketing Forum in Barcelona; October 22 the MMA & INMobile.org
will host an Executive Reception as part of CTIA; November 14 the MMF
will be in Los Angeles and December 6, we will be in Hong Kong.
Please visit http://www.mobilemarketingforum.com/ for more information on these exciting events!
Annual General Meetings will also be
held in two geographies this year. The EMEA Annual General
Meeting will be held on October 8 in Barcelona and the NA/Global Annual
General Meeting will be held on November 15 in Los Angeles. The
Annual General Meeting is a great opportunity to learn about all
initiatives within the MMA as well as help to shape the future of
the association, through interactive discussion. We hope you will
be able to join us. Please note that these events are open to MMA
member companies only.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Regards,
Mobile Marketing Association

Privacy Hypocrisy Part 2: Lurching to the high road By Scott Hornstein, Chief Marketing Officer, Wired Assets Data Corporation
I am
dumbfounded. Mobile is a potential lighting rod for privacy
concerns. Yet some mobile privacy policies read like an accident
waiting to happen. These kinds of accidents tend to be serious,
predictable and thus, avoidable. What's crazy is that all the
mobile marketers I've met (except one) are honorable. They are
savvy businesspeople that understand that the customer is in control of
the relationship and any real or perceived breach of privacy is likely
to be met with rioting in the streets.
