Dear Readers,
Welcome to the February 2007 edition of the MMA’s Mobile Marketing Messenger.
Mobile advertising continues to be a
hot topic in our industry – and the MMA has responded with the launch
of mobile advertising initiatives in APAC, NA and EMEA. The
Mobile Advertising Committees are focused on guidelines and best
practices for mobile web, downloadables, messaging and all wireless
inventories to ensure a consistent, high quality experience for brands
and agencies. If you would like to get engaged with other leaders
to spearhead the development of these guidelines in all
geographies, please contact us today.
The MMA is going global – and will
have a new Global Board of Directors in place by the end of March
2007. The Global Board of Directors will be comprised of the
Executive Committee from each region the MMA is currently in operation
– North America, Asia Pacific and Europe, Middle East &
Africa. Details on the global board will be announced shortly.
We will be hosting our highly
successful Mobile Marketing Forum on June 6 & 7 in New York
City. This is always a sell out event so book your tickets
early! We are changing the format slightly this year to cover a
variety of topics over a two day schedule – with day one focused on
general sessions and day two, on workshops around Mobile Marketing 101
and Mobile Advertising. For details on the Mobile Marketing
Forum, please visit www.mobilemarketingforum.com
See you soon!
Regards,
Mobile Marketing Association

Each month the Committee
News column will profile the efforts of up to four (4) of the MMA
committee initiatives. For more detailed information on committee
initiatives, please visit the committee pages or the MMA members only
site.
Advocacy & Consumer Best Practices This
week, the Advocacy Committee recently met with the FTC and FCC to
discuss the modifications to recent MMA Consumer Best Practices
guidelines (November 2006 release). The meetings were successful
in terms of advising both organizations on the status of our mobile
industry. We also learned that the FTC has published a report to
the U.S. Congress on the first 5 years of COPPA implementation.
The MMA and the Consumer Best Practices guidelines are referenced on
page 27 of the report -- http://www.ftc.gov/reports/coppa/07COPPA_Report_to_Congress.pdf. Great work by both our CBP and Advocacy Committees!
