Amrit has held coveted positions across blue chip global and Indian FMCG companies. In his 22-year career he has spent about a year as a Project Engineer, 7 years (Both at a State, Regional and National level) in Customer Management, 11 years (Across levels) in marketing, and 3 years (As Head of New Business Projects) in General Management.

Amrit started his career as a Project Engineer with Nestle in 1988 and after a business management course from Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore , joined Hindustan Unilever (erstwhile Hindustan Lever) in 1991. During a highly successful tenure at Hindustan Unilever, Amrit developed leading edge marketing capability while handling diverse leadership roles across marketing and sales and across different domains - Personal Care, Beverages, Direct Selling and E-Tailing. He held the office of the Category Head for Beverages (tea and coffee) and was a key member of the Foods Leadership Team at Hindustan Unilever before joining United Spirits Limited.  He was a key member of the team that worked on Unilever’s Food and Beverage Strategic Plan for India.

Amrit joined United Spirits in June 2007 picking up the gauntlet for the marketing division of India 's leading spirits company.

Amrit brings with him an in depth understanding of the Indian marketing best practices and processes and has transformed the marketing function at USL through the introduction global best practice. He has led the USL India marketing team in order to rejuvenate existing Prestige (and above) brands, and drive innovation both at the core and through variants. His efforts have begun to pay off with Prestige (and above) brands catching up with its lead competitor in terms of growth rate and surpassing those growths in recent quarters. He has led the USL Emerging markets team to develop and successfully execute market entry strategies for Key Africa and Asian markets.

Driven by process and passion, Amrit believes that processes help ensure that there is no trade off between speed to market and execution excellence. As a leader Amrit places considerable emphasis on development of his people and the team.

Amrit holds an engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai; a diploma in business management from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and he has also completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP – 183) from Harvard Business School.
