January 22, 2014

London, UK, 23rd January, 2014 – The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA), the leading global trade association for the mobile industry, today announced the appointment of Chris Babayode as Managing Director for EMEA. He will be working alongside the organisation’s global leadership team, led by CEO Greg Stuart, to expand the MMA’s voice and reach in the EMEA region.

Chris is a skilled and versatile international business leader with over 15 years’ experience working across traditional and digital media, including search, advertising networks, mobile and apps.  In his new role, Chris will continue the MMA’s thought leadership campaign within EMEA and increase advertiser and agency awareness of the potential of the mobile channel.

“I am very pleased to welcome Chris Babayode as Managing Director for EMEA. His international experience in digital, advertising, marketing and business growth makes Chris the perfect candidate for this position and a welcome addition to our senior team,” said Greg Stuart, CEO, MMA. “As mobile proliferation continues, marketers are recognising the role that mobile plays in driving marketing innovation. It provides the ultimate stage for storytelling and will help move marketers closer to consumers than ever before.”

“Chris’ ethos of ‘get involved and get it done’ will be a real asset to the EMEA board, the local councils and the industry. His experience growing organisations through transformation and change will bring a new dimension to many of our plans and we look forward to working with him to implement our ideas,” said Kerstin Trikalitis, CEO of Out There Media and Chairperson of the MMA Board of Directors. “EMEA is one of the world’s most diverse regions and it is our responsibility to drive the mobile marketing ecosystem in both emerging and more established regions.”

“Mobile brings marketers closer to consumers than any other channel. It allows for a stronger, deeper engagement thanks to its personal and pervasive nature and its ability to connect with consumers in the right place at the right time. I’m looking forward to getting fully immersed in the MMA and working with the rest of the senior team and board members to help, support and drive advertisers and agencies to increase their engagement with mobile,” said Chris Babayode.

Chris’ previous roles have included five years as Commercial Digital Director for Johnston Press Plc (a UK multimedia publisher business) where he was responsible for its Digital Publishing Division, re-launching, marketing and monetising its web, mobile and app sites. In addition, he spent six years as VP Sales and Business Development at Ask.com during which time he expanded the business into Europe through partnerships and acquisitions.

Chris will be based out of the MMA’s London office as of January 2014.
