MMA Announces Short List for The Smarties™

September 7, 2012
Global Jury Deliberated Yesterday in NY to Review the Short List and Pick the Winners

NEW YORK, NY (September 7, 2012) -- The short list for the Mobile Marketing Association’s (MMA) 2012 Smarties were announced today across 19 categories with submissions from over 36 countries. The finalists represent the pillars of innovation, creativity and success highlighting the teams and talent that push the boundaries of mobile marketing to reach and engage with consumers like no other media channel. The Smarties™ are the only global awards program dedicated exclusively to mobile marketing and recognize regional and global campaigns making for a universal contest that truly showcases the best-of-best in the industry.

“It’s clear when you review this accomplished short list that mobile is transforming the way marketers and agencies approach their marketing strategies to meet their objectives across the purchasing funnel,” said Sheryl Daija, Chief Strategic Advisor and GM Global Events, MMA. “Mobile presents such a powerful opportunity for everyone involved in the creative process to rethink their approach and rebalance their budgets to accomplish higher ROIs simply by reallocating dollars in the mix.”

The esteemed global jury of senior brand marketers and advertising agency executives met in New York yesterday to discuss, debate and vote for their favorites.  Eric Weisberg, Executive Creative Director, JWT New York and 2012 Smarties Jury Chair acted as guide and managed the complicated and competitive judging process to ensure that the Smarties recognize the commitment and accomplishments of the world's leading companies and individuals in the burgeoning mobile marketing industry.

“The judging process was incredibly enlightening - there is a great deal of innovation happening with the channel and the effectiveness results in some cases were quite astonishing to the jury. At the same time, it is clear that as an industry we have an opportunity to help marketers and agencies really build integrated mobile strategies across the mobile marketing toolbox vs. one-off mobile executions,” Daija added.
