Mobext expands ATOM Fund regionally, invests $500,000 to boost mobile marketing in Asia

July 17, 2013
SINGAPORE– July 17th, 2013.  After a successful initial run in the Philippines, Mobext’s ATOM Fund is now poised for a regional roll-out. Mobext is a specialist mobile marketing brand of Havas Media Group.

Launched last November 2012, ATOM is the first funding program of its kind. How it works is that Mobext will co-invest in mobile campaigns of first-time mobile advertisers, matching the client’s budget to spend on hosting, UX design, PR and media placements, and other essentials.

In only eight months, Mobext was able to consume its initial funding of Php 10 Million (approximately US$231,000), kick-starting the mobile campaigns of blue-chip brands such as McDonald’s, Pond’s, Ayala Malls, and Petron.

Because of its local success, Arthur Policarpio, Head of Mobext Asia-Pacific and concurrent CEO of the Philippine office, has announced that the agency will pour in another US$500,000 to expand ATOM to other Asian markets.

Currently, Mobext has nine markets in the region: Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, and Australia. This makes Mobext the largest pure-play mobile agency network both regionally and globally.

Vishnu Mohan, CEO of Havas Media Group, Asia Pacific, said: "As a group we think that we have an important role to play in creating an environment that will embolden brand marketers to invest in mobile. The ATOM Fund initiative is one such step in this direction and we welcome advertisers to leverage this opportunity."

“ATOM Fund has had a positive impact on Philippine advertisers, especially in overcoming analysis paralysis when it comes to investing in mobile,” said Policarpio. With the new funding, Policarpio approximates that over 100 first-time advertisers can secure an additional $5,000 to launch their first mobile campaign. “This is a big boost for the industry, especially as many advertisers are expressing their optimism about mobile but are just waiting for that final push.”
